Joe Wallace Chicago synth theremin Paisley BabylonDitto for THIS one, but the kids DO love their Midnight Thunderstorm Sex, and there can be no complaints about the added attention, to be sure. Thanks to these compilation makers for adding PB to the mix.

Paisley Babylone dark synth music ChicagoHotel Shower Time also got a bit of attention on this lovely comp. New wave is a favorite on the speakers round Paisley Babylon sonic HQ so it was very pleasing to find someone interested in adding us to a new wave comp. Wonderful!

Dark Wave of Sound compilation New Wave Paisley BabylonThe makers of the Dark Wave Of Sound compilation saw fit to include Paisley Babylon’s Midnight Thunderstorm Sex in its collection of dark and doomy tracks. That one keeps showing up on the comps, which leads one to believe that people love to invite Mother Nature to watch them getting it on. Which is fine and wonderful, but do take photos.

Paisley Babylon The Alpha Wave Variations Finally Available Digitally

Paisley Babylon The Alpha Wave Variations 1997 goth industrial electronic
Back in 1997, Paisley Babylon was hard at work recording and polishing The Alpha Wave Variations, which was released on the Texas label, Uncle Buzz Records.

The Alpha Wave Variations was the first CD by PB and featured an incredible amount of dark ambience, creepy horror movie-inspired textures and more than a few references to the David Cronenberg film Videodrome.

Fans of Nurse With Wound, Coil, Throbbing Gristle, and the Experimental section of the record store will find much to identify with. There’s also plenty of moody rhythmic activity going on here-it’s definitely not navel gazing synth noodling with no clear direction or purpose. The album was recorded between the hours of midnight and 4AM and that late-night surrealist vibe is definitely present all through the listening experience.

Today The Alpha Wave Variations is finally available in its entirety for digital download. Would you like to listen to the album in all its dark, unusual hallucinatory glory? It’s available below:

Paisley Babylon Presents New Vinyl-riffic Mashup Mutations

This is not a new direction for Paisley Babylon, but it’s certainly something I’ve been doing a LOT more of lately. Inspired by the ever-growing piles of weird and WTF vinyl I’ve been collecting, I’m proud to bring you the darkly funny “Too Many Boners, My Friend”, hot out of the studio only this morning.

Amusing note: the announcer voice discussing the practice of establishing an “eyeball” was NOT manipulated to take the word “eyeball” out of context. No, my friends, that is how it actually appears on the record. Hear for yourself, and know that this track is headed for a seven-inch, so its availability as a streaming clip will be limited–it comes down once the vinyl is ready to be released.
