The theremin insanity returns for a full set–are you ready? Last year’s set was full of nightmares, sexy hallucinations, and unusual sonic journeys through hyperspace. Paisley Babylon Performs at WindyCon Saturday November 15 2014

Joe Wallace and Theremin

THIS SATURDAY! Paisley Babylon does a TWO THEREMIN performance at Windycon, which is held at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, 70 Yorktown Center, Lombard IL.

The  Paisley Babylon show is in Windycon party suite 1543 and begins promptly at 8PM. There will be not one, but TWO theremins used in the performance as well as a nice helping of bizarre, surreal visuals and a merchandise table featuring pay-what-you-prefer pricing for the very first Paisley Babylon CD ever, released way back in 1998 by Uncle Buzz Records.

Paisley Babylon will perform all new material including a nicely strange looper performance that involves spontaneous, on-the-spot song creation using the amazing Electro-Harmonix 45000 looper box.

Paisley Babylon has been compared to the soundtrack work of John Carpenter, Fabio Frizzi, Stereolab and Funki Porcini. If you enjoy surreal, hallucinatory sounds with a dash of voyeurism, this is the event for you.

Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind performance. Stand by for weirdness and BYOB. Join PB at Windycon THIS WEEKEND for the Saturday performance in Windycon party suite 1543 and begins promptly at 8PM.

WINDYCON is held at the Westin Lombard Yorktown Center, 70 Yorktown Center, Lombard IL.

Paisley Babylon and Binary Partners Show At StudioLab, Bridgeport Chicago Oct 17 2014

BIG thanks to all who came to see the three-theremin spectacle that was last night’s Paisley Babylon performance. I did the opening set as Paisley Babylon and then stayed on stage as half of Binary Partners. It was a very good night indeed and it was nearly two full hours of unusual, hallucinatory entertainment that would have pleased Timothy Leary, William Burroughs, and probably Stephen Stapleton.

Here are some images from the show, there was a full recording of both performances and that will become available at some point. Stay tuned for details.

Paisley Babylon Performs Friday October 17 2014 at Bridgeport Art Center Chicago

Moog Theremini Korg Volca Joe WallaceThis Friday, October 17 2014, Paisley Babylon does an opening set for Binary Partners. Both acts perform live at the Bridgeport Art Center in StudioLab,  on the 5th floor of the art center. The StudioLab space is located in the Fashion Design Center so follow all signs to that and you’ll find the show easily.

Paisley Babylon will play with not one, not two, but THREE theremins going live at once, plus Volca boxes and a turntable. This is going to be a highly unusual show!

Binary Partners (also featuring Paisley Babylon’s Joe Wallace) will do a set featuring analog electronics and a LOT of video display insanity–barrage edited video installations that will mesmerize you as you notice the unplanned (and very creepy) video synch with the music..

Join us Friday October 17 2014 at the Bridgeport Art Center, 5th floor. It’s at 1200  W. 35th Street in Chicago. Paisley Babylon begins promptly at 7:30. Free wine and beer while supplies last.

Paisley Babylon Joins Comfort Films and The Logan Square International Film Series “Silent Films + Loud Music”

Paisley Babylon is proud to be a part of the film series “Silent Films+Loud Music” presented by Comfort Station Logan Square in Chicago, and the Logan Square International Film Series. On August 6, Paisley Babylon will be bringing live sound design, vinyl mash-ups and original music/atmospheres with theremin, sythesizer, melodica and more to accompany the silent film Aelita Queen Of Mars, a silent movie made in Russia about three years before the release of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis.

This is a pretty interesting experiment for Paisley Babylon and if the performance goes well, I’ll be looking to take this show on the road to perform in other spaces with the film and others like it. Silent films like this, depending on the print, exist in the public domain and it’s a great opportunity to take a work that hasn’t gotten much love (as opposed to Nosferatu and Metropolis) and bring a new dimension to it using technology old and new.

Stay tuned for details, I’ll provide times and location information closed to the event…
