Introducing the Texas Turntable Massacre

I must be out of my mind. I started a new project–an offshoot of Paisley Babylon–called the Texas Turntable Massacre. It’s a very vinyl-heavy music project featuring a large amount of Burroughsian cut-up technique with dollar bin records, thift store vinyl finds, obscure weird old TV preacher LPs, and liberal helpings of theremin and Moog.

There is a new album coming out in December by Texas Turntable Massacre called “Donner Party Hungry”. To coincide with this release, I will put out several EPs on CD/digital download and as an incentive to buy I’m going to offer all who purchase the limited editions a unique piece of newsprint art that specifically ties in to the album’s content.

Details on that including where to buy are forthcoming, but for now, you can sample a track off the upcoming album by way of the Soundcloud.com clip below:

Time Released Sound Over The Top CD Packaging

Time Released Sound over the top CD packagingThe image above is the very limited edition Gideon Wolf CD, Diagram, with packaging and distribution by Time Released Sound, which is, as the official site decribes, “a lovingly hand made, limited edition release music label that is as much an art project as it is a musical outlet.”

This is fantastic! A huge inspiration to me here, I’m going to try my hand at something in the same spirit with Paisley Babylon,  but naturally more darkly funny and slightly menacing. This record label is an outstanding concept and has really kicked me in the pants to continue some ideas I had toyed with in 2008 with unique packaging of CDs (to resemble LP packaging instead).

Bravo to some outstanding music packaging ideas well thought out and fully realized…you owe yourself a look at these.

Nurse With Wound Double CD

***UPDATE***The three-disc edition is sadly now sold out. That’s what I get for not moving faster.
Nurse With Wound Terms and Conditions Apply CD set
The wonderful Brainwashed.com reports Nurse With Wound has released a new double CD set featuring material recorded between 2008 and 2011. Exciting stuff as NWW is definitely one of the most inspirational of the groups I frequently mention here–Throbbing Gristle, Coil, Cabaret Voltaire, etc.

There’s nothing quite like the Nurse With Wound experience. It’s challenging, thought-provoking, sonically dangerous…for me personally it’s two bottles of red wine on an empty stomach for the soul. (That’s a good thing.)

The NWW release is called “Terms and Conditions Apply” and if you order from Dirtier, you get a third disc as a bonus, which is pretty damn outstanding. I’m not a shill for Dirtier, just passing the news along 🙂

Paisley Babylon Moves Into The Bridgeport Art Center

STUDIOLABback cover

Paisley Babylon has taken up residence in StudioLab, located in Chicago’s Bridgeport Art Center. PB is working on soundtrack and sound design projects there–some interesting approaches to visual art that include paintings and drawings that require accompanying soundscapes.

PB is also putting the finishing touches on a new album release called Sex Sells, But Who’s Buying?

There is a lot going on in the PB universe…updates coming. PB is branching out more into visual art than ever before…a PB show is coming this summer.

In the meantime you can follow me on Instagram or join me on Facebook for the latest.
